Partnering with the State Government
We’re proud and excited to announce the partnership between Local Buy and the Queensland State Government to deliver a common procurement platform across two tiers of government.
We’ve been working closely with the State Government to create a common procurement technology platform, supporting local suppliers to do business with local and state governments.
LGAQ President, Mayor Mark Jamieson, said "Local Buy has a strong track record of supporting both our councils and suppliers. It is a great outcome that this platform is being expanded, offering a gateway for businesses to secure more work with government across Queensland."

This partnership aligns with the State Government's Q2032 Procurement Strategy that “aims to help businesses get ‘match-fit’ to win State Government supply contracts before, during and after the Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
Together with the State Government, and our procurement technology partner VendorPanel, we’re building a foundation for small to large businesses to secure government contracts.
Local Buy’s mission is to simplify procurement by streamlining the process and the partnership with the State Government is another step towards supporting Queensland suppliers to connect with government purchasers.
What does this mean for councils?
This partnership provides many benefits to councils in particular with supporting local suppliers. Local Buy will continue to provide the same great service and this will not change to the way councils work with Local Buy.
As a result of the State Government transitioning to the VendorPanel platform, councils need to be aware of the following;
- Those councils still using QTenders for releasing public tenders and RFQs will need to consider moving across to the Local Buy fully funded procurement technology platform VendorPanel. The current QTender platform will be decommissioned over the coming 12 months as part of the transition.
- Those councils supplying services or bidding for works released by Queensland State Government Agencies (e.g. TMR roads contracts), will need to register as a supplier on the VendorPanel platform. A supplier portal will be developed in the coming months.
What does this mean for suppliers?
There are no changes for those suppliers that are already pre-qualified on Local Buy Arrangements for the purpose of doing business with local government.
For new suppliers, and those wanting to bid on State Government work, we are working with Queensland Government Procurement to establish the new supplier portal. This portal will enable all suppliers, whether working with state or local governments, a single point of information and the ability to sign up to the VendorPanel ‘Marketplace’ for notification of opportunities.
Stay tuned for more information and thank you for your ongoing support.
