Engagement Update - June 2024
By Emma Peters, Head of Engagement
It's been another busy month for the Engagement Team, connecting with councils and suppliers across the state.
In May, Jeremy was honoured to join the Local Government Association of Queensland team in providing an executive leadership update to Diamantina Shire Council. This trip allowed him the opportunity to visit key executive and procurement personnel for face-to-face meetings at Barcoo, Boulia, Barcaldine, Blackall-Tambo and Longreach Councils. As much as this was a valuable work trip in terms of insight and engagement, Jeremy also found it personally enjoyable, seeing this beautiful part of Queensland for the first time. He is already very much looking forward to his next visit.
When was the last time you ventured beyond the black stump?
Audrey jetted off to Burketown to take part in a Supplier Engagement event in collaboration with council.
Wendy Van Der Wolf, Procurement Manager for Burke Shire said “It was wonderful to work alongside Local Buy to promote the benefits of being a pre-qualified supplier and to educate our local business community about doing business with Government”.
If your council would like to work alongside our team to arrange a supplier engagement event of your own, please email Emma Peters.
Emma and Jeremy took the boss (Mike Waterland) out for a spin at the LGAQ Civic Leaders Forum on the Gold Coast. The Conference was the perfect chance to meet many new Elected Members and Mayors and to chat with CEOs about strategic planning for their councils.
In addition to a plethora of face-to-face engagement with councils, which is business as usual for our team, we have launched some new initiatives.
Firstly, we have added a weekly session on How to become a Local Buy Supplier which is hosted by Liz and Audrey and we have also scheduled a Monthly VendorPanel demonstration for our Councils and other authorised purchasers.
Finally, we are excited to start working with councils on how best to maximise our six brand new Arrangements which include recruitment, civil works, water infrastructure and water products. If you’d like to find out more, please reach out to Emma.
All our events are featured on the Local Buy Website Events page, which can be accessed here: Local Buy Events Calendar
