New Purchasing Arrangements for Microsoft
Various Local Government Procurement groups across Australia have come together to implement a new national purchasing arrangement for Microsoft software licenses. This is being led by the Western Australia Local Government Association (WALGA – lead agency), with participation by Local Buy (Queensland), Local Government Association of Northern Territory (LGANT), and the Local Government Association Procurement of South Australia (LGAP). With new improved licensing arrangements being negotiated with Microsoft, a tender has now been released to the participating states seeking the initial establishment of a panel of Licensed Service Providers (LSPs) to be followed by a second stage tender for Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) and Open License Resellers.
The initial stage tender is expected to be completed by the 30 November 2018, thereby allowing councils to select a preferred LSP from the panel to enable purchasing of Microsoft software under the new negotiated pricing arrangements established by WALGA. Further details on the new purchasing arrangements will be communicated via the participating Local Government Procurement agencies in the very near future.
